How Much Weight Should I Lose In A Month?
Greetings!
How much weight should you lose in month? That’s a great question with an answer that is pretty straight forward but most people don’t want to hear. Let me put a caveat on my answer. The question should be rephrased to “How much weight can I safely lose in a month?” That answer is going to be a lot different than you probably want to hear. There are “fad” diets or “starvation diets” that will cause you to lose weight quickly. I intentionally didn’t use the phrase “help you lose weight” because they really don’t help you in the long term and they could actually cause you some harm.
Fad Diets?
When it comes to fitness and weight, many opt for the quick fix or something that provides immediate gratification. You may be tempted to blame TikTok, Instragram, Facebook and other social media platforms for this “trend” but really, it’s always been like this! We’ve had newspapers, magazines, radio and television for several hundred years now! Don’t be tempted to follow a fad diet to get into that dress or suit that for that special occasion coming up as it really is not good for your overall health, and, even if you lose weight you will very likely be back to where you started in a month or two. See what Livestrong has to say about this.
Safe Weight Loss Goals
So how much weight can you plan to safely lose a month? This can vary for individuals but based on science (yes there is science to back this up) and according to the Center for Disease Control the average person should target 4 – 8 pounds per month. This number is based on reducing your caloric intake to a sustainable level while still getting sufficient nutrients to support your body.
