Cannabis and Diabetes – Don’t Shoot the Messenger

Don’t blame the messenger, but, there is growing evidence that Cannabis and Diabetes don’t play well together. If you perform a search on the internet, you will likely find quite a few articles proclaiming that Cannabis can help manage diabetes. You will also find a handful of articles that state that Cannabis can lead to a higher risk (up to FOUR times) of developing Type II Diabetes. What should you believe? I like to follow the advice of a popular strategy first proclaimed in All the President’s Men… follow the money.
If the Cannabis Industry, or anyone affiliated with the industry, says Cannabis is good for diabetes, I’d at least fact check the statement. Go back and look at the articles your found proclaiming that Cannabis is great for diabetes, and you will notice that most of them, don’t have any hard research listed in the article. So, while I am not a doctor, I can at least say…. hmmmm, I wonder where that advice came from.
Next, take a look at some of the articles providing some cautious advice on Cannabis and Diabetes, and you will find most of those do have some research listed. Here are three articles that will give you something to think about.
